1. Extinct Animals & Fossilisation

Learn more about a variety of pre-historic, extinct and endangered animals—including LKCNHM’s real sauropod dinosaur fossils. Through a series of interactive activities, which includes pre- and post-programme quizzes, a live fossil specimen showcase on camera and a word-guessing game segment, participants will learn about extinction events, and how we can do our part to help animals under threat.

This programme is suitable for pre-school students aged 5 years and above & Lower Primary students.

2. Virtual Intertidal Walk & Marine Conservation

Join us on a virtual journey to marine habitats in Singapore where intertidal life abounds. Through interactive media such as videos and quizzes, participants will be introduced to various local marine organisms—sea cucumbers, sea stars, snails and crabs—and their unique adaptations to the marine environment. The second half of the programme explores the threats that these marine creatures face, and the marine research work of the museum, including the discovery of our Singapore Sperm Whale in 2015.

This programme is suitable for Upper Primary students and above.

3. Biomimicry: Inspiration from Nature

Biomimicry involves drawing inspiration from nature to spark innovation and solve human design challenges. Participants will be introduced to a variety of flora and fauna, as well as the products and solutions inspired from these organisms. This will be done using a multimedia approach, including a live camera showcase featuring museum specimens. An opportunity to introduce STEM learning as participants will be able to put their analytical and creativity skills to test via a group brainstorming activity to generate new ideas or products based on the adaptations and features of different organisms.

This programme is suitable for Upper Primary & Lower Secondary students.

4. Preservation & Restoration in a Natural History Museum
