Our museum building in all its glory was featured in the Straits Times last week. The bold and artistic architectural design of Singapore’s first natural history museum is the work of veteran home-grown architect, Mr Mok Wei Wei (W Architects).

In a new 352-page book encapsulating his architecture projects throughout his illustrious three-decade-long career and titled ‘Mok Wei Wei: Works by W Architects’, Mr Mok explains his unique approach to the museum’s building design in the context of the challenges in having to preserve and store thousands of its specimens.

While speaking to us, Mr Mok mused at this wondrous coincidence: “We refurbished the National Museum of Singapore, the original home of these precious specimens, years after they were removed. It is serendipitous that we were thereafter bestowed the honour of finally giving them a permanent home at the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum.”
