The Comprehensive Marine Biodiversity Survey I & II (CMBS I & II) aimed to consolidate and enhance the understanding of Singapore’s marine diversity through biodiversity surveys and innovative technology.
During the 2017 expedition, our researchers explored the stunning yet rugged landscapes of Christmas Island, where they were rewarded with the hidden gifts of nature—newly discovered species of crabs and prawns.
For an exciting three weeks in October 2017, a team from the Museum ventured into the Sarawak rainforests to document its rich insect biodiversity, uncovering rare species like the bulldog raspy cricket in the process.
The 2018 South Java Deep-Sea Biodiversity Expedition (SJADES) was a 14-day survey of the deep seas off West Java which uncovered over 12,000 specimens and marked a historic scientific collaboration between Singapore and Indonesia.
