Oral History Sub-collection

The Oral History Sub-collection is dedicated to collecting and preserving stories of people who have been significantly associated with the Museum and its collections. This initiative began in 2022, with the goal of capturing a personal dimension to the Museum’s history, aiming to paint a fuller picture of LKCNHM and its collections at different points in time, especially throughout transitional periods from the 1960s to the present day.

Audio recordings in the Collection feature various Museum staff, researchers, affiliated collaborators and other individuals associated with Singapore’s biodiversity community. These interviews preserve personal recollections on a broad range of topics, including: specimen collections; local and regional fieldwork; and everyday operations of the Museum. These stories add emotional and experiential depth to an understanding of our biodiversity research and collections, highlighting the tireless contributions of people who have shaped the Museum into what it is today.
