Abstract. A total of 10 hermit crab species of the family Pylochelidae were collected from Indonesian waters of the Indian Ocean during the South Java Deep-Sea Expedition (SJADES) in 2018. Paraphylocheles scorpio (Alcock, 1894) and Bathycheles macgilchristi (Alcock, 1905) are recorded for the first time in Indonesian waters, and Cheiroplatea brevis, new species and Trizocheles foresti, new species, are described. Six other species: C. laticauda Boas, 1926, Pylocheles mortensenii Boas, 1926, Xylocheles macrops (Forest, 1987), X. miersi (Alcock & Anderson, 1899), Bathycheles incisus (Forest, 1987), and B. integer (Forest, 1987) were found to have a broader distribution in Indonesian waters.
