Following our first ever Quiet Hour in January earlier this year, the Museum held its second installation of Quiet Hour on 1 August 2023. Hosting students from MINDS Woodlands Gardens School, this round’s Quiet Hour spanned two sessions, consisting of one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
The morning session saw Quiet Hour observed from 10 to 11 AM, as the Museum was closed to the public to provide a calmer, more conducive environment for the students. During this time, 71 students from MINDS Woodlands Gardens School, accompanied by 12 teachers and 1 volunteer, were brought around by members of our Outreach and Education Unit (OEU). Enjoying a tour of our gallery, the students were inquisitive and outgoing in asking and responding to questions throughout the session!
A few hours later, a smaller group of 19 students, 6 teachers and 2 volunteers partook in the afternoon session held from 2 to 3 PM. The Museum remained open to small groups (less than 5 pax) of the public during this afternoon session, to maintain a calmer environment for our guests. Just like those in the morning session, the students had a fun-filled time learning more about our local and regional biodiversity with intriguing specimens in our gallery!
“First of all, I would like to say thank you for everything from start to end; (i)t was a seamless and smooth experience and we appreciate everything you and your team had done to make it such a fun and meaningful session,” remarked Ms Wirda bte Bahati, MINDS Woodlands teacher, on the Quiet Hour event.
We hope the students and teachers from MINDS Woodlands Gardens School had an enjoyable time learning more about our local biodiversity and we look forward to welcoming more groups for Quiet Hour in this inclusive effort! Moving forward, LKCNHM hopes to continue taking further strides in our mission to serve and provide for all patrons.
