On 17 May 2023, we were honoured to host Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies, Mr Heng Swee Keat, at our Museum for a tour of our gallery and collections. Guided by our Museum Heads and Advisors, DPM Heng and his wife, Ms Chang Hwee Nee, CEO of National Heritage Board, were given a look into both the front and backend of our operations dedicated to conserving and celebrating our natural history over the years.

Joined also by our Chairman, Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, and Mr Beh Kian Teik, CEO of National Research Foundation, Singapore, the visit saw not just recollections of past Museum achievements and history, but also lively conversations about our latest developments and new directions. In particular, members from our various teams were excited to highlight our Museum’s significance in Singapore’s local education, ecology and biodiversity, as well as our collaborative work with vibrant regional and global research communities.

“This is a wonderful collection. The museum has done an excellent job putting the collection together and displaying the exhibits in a very educational way.  I hope that many more people will visit to learn more about the biodiversity in our region.” DPM Heng remarked about his experience from the visit.

We thank DPM Heng for his kind words and hope to welcome him back soon!
