Marketing & Communications Intern

Internship period: 7 September to 31 December 2026 

 

The Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum is looking for a Marketing & Communications Intern who has an interest in nature and science communication, and is keen to support the Museum’s outreach and documentation efforts. 

 

Working with the Marketing & Communications team, the intern will assist with a range of communications activities, including content creation, documentation, website updates and communications administration. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys writing, design and/or photography, is organised and detail-oriented, and is willing to take initiative when supporting projects and events. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  1. Content creation and storytelling
  • Assist in creating content for the Museum’s social media channels to promote the Museum’s gallery and events. 
  • Take photographs and short videos during Museum events, research activities, and official visits by invited guests or organisations for publicity and documentation. 
  • Assist in the drafting and publication of the Museum’s newsletter. 
  • Help translate scientific information into engaging and accessible content for the public. 
  • Assist in designing simple publicity materials and social media graphics where required. 
  1. Communications administration
  • Maintain the Museum’s press archive by tracking and organising media coverage. 
  • Keep records of visiting researchers and assist in updating researcher profiles on the Museum’s website. 
  • Support updates to the Museum’s website and social media platforms, where needed. 
  1. Event and team support
  • Provide photography and documentation support during Museum events and outreach activities. 
  • Assist with communications-related tasks and other duties as assigned.

This position is open to both full-time and part-time interns. As such, the scope of work may be adjusted depending on the internship arrangement. 

 

Who We Are Looking For 

Qualifications: Diploma / Undergraduate / Bachelor’s Degree 

 

We are looking for someone who: 

  • Has good written communication skills and an interest in content creation. 
  • Enjoys photography and visual storytelling. 
  • Is organised, meticulous and has strong attention to detail. 
  • Has good design skills with experience in Canva, Capcut and Procreate as an advantage; 
  • Is proactive, willing to learn and able to take initiative when working on assigned tasks. 
  • Open to working in both indoors and outdoors. 
  • Is able to work independently while also contributing as part of a small team. 

 

Bonus: 

  • Candidate is studying Communications, Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences or Geography;
  • Prior experience in social media management, science communication, publicity and/or copywriting is an advantage.
