Campus Plant Identifier: FloraSG

POSTED ON BY Clarisse Tan

It seems that almost every corner of NUS’s Kent Ridge campus is near some form of greenery—from large, towering tembusu trees (Cyrtophyllum fragrans), to the pretty pink flowers of the trumpet tree (Tabebuia rosea).

With the FloraSG app, you’ll be able to identify 60 native plants at the University Hall on the Kent Ridge Campus.

The app helps you identify the plants by selecting various features of the plant, such as the habit, leaf, flowers, and fruits. Don’t worry if you’re not familiar with the names of the features—there are illustrations to guide you along.

Based on the features selected, a list of species will be generated. You can identify the plant by matching the photos of each species with the plant at the site.

The FloraSG app is available on Android devices. Download it from the Google Play Store here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.florasg.florasg_001
