Education //
Titled ‘Colours of Biodiversity in Singapore‘, the digital colouring book contains engaging activities on ten plants and animals that can be found in Singapore.
On top of drawings for children (and adults!) to colour in, this e-book includes more information of the featured flora and fauna—a stimulating mix of creativity and learning! From ink pens, crayons, colouring pencils, watercolour painting, to acrylics and more, try your hand at different mediums and techniques to bolster your artistic side.
Go forth and create masterpieces by yourself or your little Picassos to frame! Don’t forget to tag us on social media (@lkcnhm) to show us what you have created too.
Download and print out the free e-book here (7.57 MB).
We invite all young artists to participate in our colouring contest, Nature x Art!
All children up to the age of 12 are welcome to enter under either one of the two categories. Simply send in your child’s submissions within the contest period and possibly walk away with attractive prizes!
The contest will run for a month from 22 June to 22 July 2021 (23:59 SGT), during which you can send your child’s submissions via email to nhmlearning@nus.edu.sg along with the following details:
Tip: To stand a better chance of winning over our judges, do take clear, sharp and well-lighted pictures, or use a scanner. Screenshots of digital colourings are also welcome.
There will be two separate categories—the Junior (6 years old and below) and Intermediate (7 to 12 years old) groups. The submission criteria is different between the groups so do read the following carefully.
All participants are required to submit a colouring of an organism, as well as a creative interpretation of the organism’s natural habitat in the remaining empty space provided in the book. See the example above for some inspiration, but take it further if they can!
For the Intermediate category, participants also have to write a short paragraph on why they chose to colour in that organism, and what is their favourite characteristic of it.

We are also giving away local guide sheets you and your child can bring along as you explore and experience various nature spaces in Singapore, as well as exclusive crochet animal keychains.
