Description

This family includes rather frail-looking damselflies with narrow hyaline wings, the tip of which is hooked backwards slightly, a very light thorax and a long thin abdomen. The pterostigma is very short and often pale. They are inconspicuous and cryptic, dwelling mainly in deep forest around streams and boggy places. Their flight is rather weak and slow.

There are about 200 described species in six genera distributed in the Old and New World tropics, excluding Africa and Madagascar.  Nine species are known in Peninsular Malaysia, but only one occurs in Singapore.
