Description

Members are unicellular or filamentous green algae common in freshwater, although some species are terrestrial. The shape of the chloroplast is varied—from spiral to plate-like to stellate, etc. asexual reproduction is by fragmentation, binary fission or akinetes. Sexual reproduction is by conjugation.
