Description

Formerly of the order Ciconiiformes, the herons, pelicans, ibises and other large, long-legged wading birds, with the exception of storks, are now more related to pelicans, as suggested by DNA studies. Members of Pelecaniformes are medium- to large-sized water birds that have an unique feet with all four toes webbed. They all have a bare gular patch and they breathe through their mouths.
