Description

This is an order of mammals characterised by a pair of chisel-like incisor teeth at the front of their upper and lower jaws. Rodents have teeth that grow continuously throughout their lives and that are used for gnawing hard foods such as nuts. Some rodents also use their teeth to excavate burrows.

In Singapore, rodents are represented by at least 15 extant species of bamboo rat, porcupine, rats and squirrels.
