Description

Members of this order are unicells or unbranched filaments. The chloroplasts are peripheral spirally twisted bands that extend the entire length of the cell, an axial plate extending the length of the cell, or two stellate chloroplasts. There is a lack of flagellated reproductive cells in this order. Instead, there are isogamous aplanogametes.
