Description

This is a family of small to medium-sized birds, commonly called starlings and mynas. They have strong legs, pointed wings and a slightly downcurved bill. Some species have bare patches of skins, wattles or crests. Starlings in general have a metallic sheen on their plumage. Sturnids are gregarious; they roost communally and forage in flocks. They feed mostly on fruits and insects. Many live near human habitations and are adapted to eat human food.

In Singapore, 10 species have been recorded.
