Description

The Passeriformes consists of the largest and most diverse of all birds. Commonly called perching birds or passerines, this order of birds makes up over half of all extant birds, that is, about 5300 species. Perching birds are so called due to their strong feet, which allow the bird to perch or grab branches effortlessly.
