Photo-Movie Contest for Participants
All student participants who have joined the intertidal walk at Pulau Semakau are invited to take part in this competition which aims to create awareness of the rich biodiversity of Pulau Semakau.

What is a photo-movie?
A photo-movie is basically a slideshow of photos done in a video file format, e.g. in mov, wmv etc. Most people add captions to the photos, or edit the photos to make it more fun. For an example of a photo-movie, check out the one done by one of our volunteers for Project Semakau's 2nd Anniversary celebration at this link.

How to make a photo-movie?
You can use any of movie-making software that comes with Windows or Mac. For Windows users, you can check out this page to find out how to make a photo-movie using Windows Movie Maker.

How to take part?
- Participants are required to produce a 3-minute photo-movie that showcases the beauty of Semakau and generates awareness for conservation of intertidal habitats.
- Participants can submit your entry as an individual or as a group (maximum 3 people).
- All movie files should be in .wmv, .mov or .flv formats. They should not exceed 100 MB in size.
- All photos used must be taken in Pulau Semakau by you.
- As movie files can be very large, please upload your files linked via the free uploading website http://www.sendspace.com/ or 
https://www.yousendit.com/

Attractive Prizes
Up to three prizes (books from the Private Lives series) will be awarded to the best three entries of each walk! At the end of the year 2011, three Grand Prizes will be given to the overall best entries of the year!

1st Prize: $500 Harvey Normann voucher
2nd Prize: $300 Harvey Normann voucher
3rd Prize: $150 Harvey Normann voucher

The winning video will also be posted on the Project Semakau website!

Photo-Movie Contest for Project Semakau Volunteers

Volunteers do not fret! A photo-movie contest is also open for all volunteers of Project Semakau!

- Participants are required to produce a 3-minute photo-movie with the theme "Conserving Pulau Semakau". 
- Participants can only submit entries individually. Only one entry is allowed for each person.
- All photos used must be taken by you in Pulau Semakau.
- All movie files should be in .wmv, .mov or .flv formats. They should not exceed 100 MB in size.

Contest Results

The results are out for intertidal walks in year 2011! Congratulations to all winners! Here are our winners for the various walks held in this year. All these entries will be in the running for the top three Grand Prizes by the end of 2011.

18 March 2011: The best photo-video goes to Team 1 of Boon Lay Secondary School. Each member of the winning group will be awarded a book from our RMBR's Private Lives series. Click here to view their winning entry. The names of the members of Team 1 are:

26 October 2011: There are two winning teams for the walk on this date. The first team is from Raffles Girls' School (RGS). The members are DENG YI MIN, CHENG LIYI, and SHARON ANDRES. Many interesting photo-movie entries have been submitted for the many walks conducted and now the results are out! The winning entries for each walk, which are eligible for the top three grand prizes, were judged based on content, conservation message as well as creativity. The three entries that emerged as the overall winners are listed below. They will be awarded Harvey Norman vouchers worth $500, $300 and $150 respectively. Congratulations!
