Morten Strange

Description

Morten Strange is an author, photographer, editor and publisher. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, he was based in the North Sea as well as Asia as a field service engineer in the offshore oil industry. He left the industry in 1986 when he was field service supervisor to seek his fortune in Singapore where he set up his business Flying Colours Photography as a writer and photographer.

From 1986 to 2000 he traveled extensively throughout Malaysia, Thailand and especially remote parts of Indonesia seeking out birds in their natural habitats to photograph, including many rainforest species never photographed before at the time.  He was involved in the NGO business from 1994-1996 as International Officer for DOF/BirdLife Denmark.

An accomplished birdwatcher and writer, he has written many guide books on birds of Malaysia, Indonesia, South-east Asia and parts of East Africa.

He was marketing manager for Nature’s Niche Pte Ltd from 1999-2008 promoting nature through sale of books and gift items. He was editor-in-chief of Nature Watch, the official magazine of the Nature Society (Singapore) from 2009-2012. He is currently managing director of Draco Publishing and Distribution Pte Ltd where he is preparing a new book, Hornbills of the World: A Photographic Guide, due for publication in January 2013.
