Description

A diverse family of mostly trees or shrubs. The leaves are simple, alternate and without stipules. They have oil glands and are aromatic. The flowers of Lauraceae are small and insect-pollinated. The fruit is a 1-seeded drupe.

Some examples include cinnamon (Cinnamomum spp.), camphor (Cinnamomum camphora), and avocado (Persea americana).
