Sightings of Engraved Colour Flags

Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve (SBWR) has embarked on a 'Engraved Flagging Programme' to enhance their shorebird ringing programme. This new method will allow the park staff to study the movement of individual birds in Singapore and along the East Asian-Australasian Flyway (EAAF) by identifying the letter and number on the flags.

SBWR has set up a Facebook group 'Sungei Buloh Engraved Flag Sightings' to share information on sightings of engraved colour flags.

If you would like to make a sighting report to the group, you can search the group name on your Facebook and click 'Join Group on the home page of the group. For those who are not on Facebook, you may inform SBWR of the sighting through NParks_SBWR@nparks.gov.sg

Please include the following information in your sighting report:

  • Location
  • Date
  • Time
  • Name of Observer
  • Species
  • Position and Colour of flags
  • Lettering and Number on flags
  • photographs (if available).

Thank you very much for your help!
